Business-minded too? :)

.

Gabbie was playing with our faux fruit decors, arranged them on the table and sat beside it like a tindera. Then when I got up to get the green apple, she said, "Mommy, payb petot." I said, "What?" and she said in a much louder voice, "Bayad kaw mommy, payb petot!"

Hahaha! She was playing tindera nga pala and she was selling the fruits for five pesos. Negosyante talaga- hahaha!

Gabbie's Love For Music

.

Gabbie must have inherited my passion for music. But as she grows, she expresses it in more ways than I do. Sure I can carry a tune, and I have learned to play Passenger Seat in my guitar years ago. But that's all I can do. For Gabbie, learning to play musical instruments was just like learning how to eat using her own spoon and fork. She does it naturally, and she does it with grace.

Whenever she sees a guitar (mostly in malls), she will find a way to touch it and strum. She saw a contestant in Pilipinas Got Talent playing violin, the next day she demonstrated it to us using her toy guitar- with eyes closed.

I have also seen her interest in drums. In fact, she taps our center table whenever she hears a music and wants to play along.

In Shangrila Hotel where we attended a wedding, there was a grand piano. The moment she saw it, she knew what to do. I believe it was her first time to see one. But her fingers touched the keys with so much confidence. I was surprised, and I didn't let that moment pass without taking a photo.

She also learns a song very easily. Although the words are not clear yet, her pitch, her tone and timing are unbelievable. And for songs she can not sing, she will just "request" and make me sing it. So our favorite game during travels is "Name That Tune." Few of her favorites are "The Chocolate Song" from Dora, the Barney song, the Spongebob song, and some Elmo and Hi5 songs.

She has also learned some one-lines from songs like Paparazzi & I Will Always Love You and from TV commercials like Sana Bukas (Close Up) and Lucky Me. Currently, we are teaching her the Bahay Kubo and the alphabet.

Here is a video of Gabbie "pretending" to play Percussion Freak in Timezone. I was amazed by how she did it gracefully, even if it was her first time: My Little Percussion Freak

Day Off! :)

.

We had a really busy, tiring but super fun day last Saturday, although Gabbie's daddy wasn't with us in our spur-of-the-moment lakwatsa, because they have company teambuilding activities in Subic.

I originally planned for a trip to Manila Ocean Park- I checked the details in the net and made a plan on how to get there without taking a taxi (that would cost us too much, plus the traffic... no way!)

So we took the LRT from Katipunan to Araneta Center. It was a little hot walking from Gateway thru Farmers Plaza, but Dairy Queen was there to help us cool down. Then we took the MRT going to Taft (that's the only way I'm  comfortable taking because I kinda know Baclaran/Taft by heart already.

Halfway thru the trip, Gabbie dozed off. So I decided to just go straight to SM MOA so we can comfortably sit and she can continue her siesta. She woke up around 3PM, and I thought it was already late if we push thru with our MOP plan.

We just stayed in MOA and explored the mall while waiting for Mike. Gabbie said she wanted to watch a movie, but she wasn't allowed in Toy Story 3D because she's under 3 yrs old. So as usual, picture picture na lang.

And what is malling with a toddler without a carousel ride?

and kiddie carts?

We also saw the fireworks but Gabbie was super takot. I wasn't able to take photos because she was hiding under my shirt and crying all the time. But there was the yearly Aliwan Fiesta going on also and I was able to convince her to pose with a performer in costume.

We had a late lunch in Kenny Rogers (the only resto with seats inside and no super long lines at the counter) and shared a glass of iced tea.

She also insisted to ride the giant balloon, but she wasn't allowed alone so I had to accompany her. But unlike the carousel, in giant balloon, I had to pay for both of us.

Then we went inside a kid's playhouse. I was prepared for this, brought our socks because I know 3yrs below are not allowed to play without companion.

I paid for a 30-minute playtime. But extended for another 30 minutes so I can rest a little longer. But a kid of about 2-3yrs old bit Gabbie in the wrist! She was riding a car and holding a toy phone, mimicking her daddy driving and using his cellphone at the same time.

But then, this super kulit kid pushed her out of the toy car and was trying to get the phone. When Gabbie wouldn't let go, he bit her in the wrist. Bad trip. In front of an attendant. The mother of the little boy was busy texting. I let it pass because Gabbie said "no sakit" naman.

After the biting, I followed Gabbie anywhere she went. But the little bully boy kept on getting in her way. He'd get her toys, he'd throw them and this one got me really pissed talaga- he hit Gabbie in the face with a toy plastic bowling pin. I called the mother and told her to watch her son all the time and to explain to him that what he had been doing wasn't good. I even asked the attendants if they have a rule regarding kids being harmful to others inside the playhouse. 'Coz if I were the owner of the place, I'd ask the mother of the kid to just take her kid out to avoid any more hitting and harm to other kids. When I looked at Gabbie's wrist, it was swollen, so I asked an attendant for an icepack. Afterwards, we left the playhouse.

I observed the bite and asked Gabbie from time to time if it's "sakit". But knowing her, kahit masakit, basta may pagkakaabalahan, sige lang. So I treated her to another cup of Dairy Queen and we watched some kids ice skating while waiting for daddy.

This is Gabbie's wrist, the morning after. Reminds me of Bella when she was bitten by a freak vampire in Twilight. Hay.

Knock, knock!

.

Been enjoying watching Lokomoko U lately. It's a local gag show in TV5 (where Gabbie also watches her favorite Hi5 and Oggy and the Cockroaches every afternoon). There's this knock-knock-who's-there part of the show that makes me literally laugh out loud even if I'm the only one in the room watching.

The jokes may sound corny and mababaw. But for a padre-de-pamilya who's tired from working the whole day, these simple jokes during or after dinner just make all the pagod go away. Yup, I do this to Mike every now and then and they also make him LOL (jejemon?!?!) :p

Sample, sample!

Knock, knock!... Who's there?... Para mamang taxi.... Para mamang taxi who?
I'm your biggest fan I'll follow you until you love me
Para, mamang taxi!

Knock, knock!... Who's there?... Lady Gaga.... Lady Gaga who?
Kung Lady Gaga ka, sa piling ng iba...

Knock, knock!... Who's there?... Hitong Luto.... Hitong Luto who?
Ang hitong luto, umiibig sayo... kahit na nagdurugo ang puso...

Knock, knock!... Who's there?... Duling si Aga.... Duling si Aga who?
Mag exercise tayo, duling si Aga.. duling si Aga..

Knock, knock!... Who's there?... John Lennon.... John Lennon who?
John john john john john... john john john john...
(nasan ang Lennon dun?)
Lennon me, when you're not strong... I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on...

Fit and Fun

.

Fitflop recently had a contest on "expressing the love for the brand" by sending in photos and in 150 words or less, explain why they should choose you to be one of the 5 winners of a Walkstar Snakeskin.

This was my entry. This photo was taken during one of our "walks" in Marikina Sports Center. If I win, it would be a very nice birthday gift but if not, then better luck next time for me. Haha!

"Being a stay-at-home-mom, I don't get to go out and walk often but I have symptoms of osteoarthritis so I was really determined to find a way to getting fit while taking care of and having fun with my toddler. When I found out that FitFlops can help relieve leg pains and even osteoarthritis, I immediately got a pair, put them on and went to a walk one weekend with my daughter and my husband. We're planning to do this regularly because I can feel the effect already as early as now. If I got chosen to win in this contest, Fitflops will help me save a lot from my knee treatments and I will even be spared from steroid injections. // Ivy David-Marasigan, 32 years old, full-time mom"

TV Moments

.

On one of our siestas, Gabbie woke up before I did. Half awake, I heard her say softly "Hooooyyy, giiiissssiiinnnggg... ooooyyy, giiiissssiiinnnggg... " When I opened my eyes I saw her put her hand on her chest then softly said, "Me, agua."

It took me a couple of minutes to realize that she was doing an Agua scene when an unconscious guy was found on the shore and Agua was trying to wake him up.

***

When Gabbie saw Kiray in a kiddie TV Show, she screamed "Melayyyyyyy!"

***

I was switching channels one night when Gabbie saw Jong Hilario in one teleserye. With pouting lips she said "Mommyyyy, watch showtime Abby."

***

But no, I don't think we're watching too much TV. It's  just that her memory is unbelievably sharp.
